In what was a marathon effort by both batsmen, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Armaan Jaffer smacked centuries in the semi final as Mumbai won the game courtesy a huge first innings lead. While Jaffer scored a sublime 127, Jaiswal went one step ahead and scored a herculean 181 to help Mumbai qualify for their 47th Ranji Trophy finale.
Jaiswal, who took 55 balls to get off the mark, notched up his highest score in Ranji Trophy cricket as Mumbai walloped UP by keeping them in the field for a massive 156 overs. Jaiswal’s innings makes him a serious contender for a slot in the Indian team, although its too early to comment on the same.
Jaffer, meanwhile continued his rich vein of form as he overcame his 1st innings disappointment in thumping fashion. Mumbai had posted 393 in their first innings and then bowled out Uttar Pradesh for just 180 and got a huge first-innings lead.
When play ended on the fourth day on Friday, Mumbai had piled up a mammoth 449/4 in their second essay. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Armaan Jaffer played brilliant knocks to take them to that position.
Mumbai, who are record 41 times winners of the Ranji trophy will look to win another one in the final that starts next week, and in the meantime, you can also win big prizes on Lotusfair.com.
