In a strange development, the Pakistan cricket board has decided to have a word with the other boards as the BCCI has announced the extension of the IPL adding to its already original schedule of 2 months.
The BCCI has taken the glitz, glamor and grandeur of the IPL beyond belief and there are plans to extend it, but in order to do that, it will have to tweak its original version of the FTP and doing that, would mean that many bilateral series would come in the firing line.
“From the next FTP cycle, IPL will have an official two-and-a-half-month window so that all the top international cricketers can participate. We have had discussions with various boards as well as the ICC”, BCCI secretary Jay Shah had told PTI.
PCB, unsurprisingly, crying foul has decided to bring this topic up in the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Birmingham as Pakistan, whose players are yet to play in the IPL since 2008 has once again put a hurdle ahead of a cash rich Indian league. India and Pakistan have had a tense relationship over the years and that has spilled on to a cricketing field as well. They last played a bilateral series in 2012, but since then, both teams have clashed many times in ICC events, with India being the winners of most of the games
They will lock horns yet again in this year’s world T20 cup at the iconic Melbourne Cricket ground on October 23rd in the opening game and India would have revenge of last years’ heavy defeat behind them.
