Match Preview
For the Sri Lankan side, this test series has literally everything new for them. They have a new Prime Minister, a new captain and a host of newcomers into the team as well. On the other hand, Bangladesh too have been on and off form as far as test matches are concerned in 2022 and will wish to regain some pride for themselves in this test series. This time Bangladesh are taking the field without two of their spearhead bowlers – Taskin and Mehedy. However, in the first test match they have been performing well as far as the game is concerned till now. You can check out live score updates of the first test match between the two teams on our website. For Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan too joins the team after recovering from covid so his availability and consistency will be something to watch out for in this series.
Team Preview
Chris Silverwood is on his first test series with Sri Lanka as coach. Kamil Mishara, Kamindu Mendis, Dilshan Madushanka and Suminda Lakshan are the recent additions to the Sri Lanka test squad for the Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka Test series 2022. Players like Lahiru Thirimanne, Charith Asalanka and Pathum Nissanka are out of the test squad and the pacer Suranga Lakmal also has retired from test cricket after the previous series. Dimuth Karunaratne, the test captain of the team, is also the highest run getter for the team in the last two calendar years. He will have a lot to deal with the newcomers joining the test squad. Kusal Mendis and Dhananjaya de Silva will be key players as they recently have experience of the playing condition of Bangladesh in the domestic cricket league.
Bangladesh will want Mominul Haque to find form in Chattogram. He is also the captain and will have a tough time to roger his bowling forces as the team will be without bowlers such as Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taskin Ahmed. Also, it is doubtful whether Shakib Al Hasan will be at his top form or not. On the batting front, Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudul Hasan Joy will be leading the pack with his good run of form as per betting experts.
