About Asia Cup
The Asian Cricket Council Asia Cup is a men’s One Day International and Twenty20 International cricket tournament organised by the Asian Cricket Council. It was formed in 1983 as a gesture to foster goodwill among Asian countries by the Asian Cricket Council. It was originally planned to take place every two years. The Asia Cup is cricket’s sole continental championship, and the winning team is crowned Asia’s champions.

The Asia Cup 2022 will feature a total of six teams. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan are among them. Following the qualification round, one additional team will be qualified into the tournament. Hong Kong, Kuwait, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates will compete in the qualifying round.

The Format of the league
It alternates between ODI and T20I formats every two years. This year the league will be played in T20 format.

This year’s Asia Cup will begin on August 27, 2022, with the finals taking place on September 11, 2022.
Defending Champions of the League
India are the defending champions of the tournament. India won the previous edition of the Asia Cup in 2018 by defeating Bangladesh in the final.
